NSP scientists worked for 2 years testing hundreds of herbs to determine their capacity to create an unfriendly environment for H. pylori.
The bacterium Helicobacter pylori is one of the most common causes of ulcers. It can inhabit the mucus layer that lines and protects the stomach.
When bacteria levels get out of balance, H. pylori can multiply and disrupt the mucus layer, producing an ulcer. H. pylori and bacterial outbreaks in the stomach can also lead to inflammation and eroding of the stomach lining.
Support your stomach's interior walls with Gastro Health—a powerful weapon in the fight for the lining of your stomach.
Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice
Deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL) is a specially-processed form of licorice root that contains higher amounts of active constituents that soothe mucous membranes of the upper digestive tract. These active compounds also inhibit enzymes involved in the production of proinflammatory signaling molecules. And, DGL is safer for long-term use with less potential for interactions with medications or medical conditions than regular licorice root. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has relied on licorice root for thousands of years to maintain digestive system health, promote vitality, and support liver function. Modern research has confirmed that licorice root can promote healing of the stomach lining and supports a healthy inflammatory response. Licorice root also provides potent antioxidant activity.
Cloves
Cloves are the tiny flower buds of the clove tree, a tropical evergreen tree native to Indonesia, Madagascar and Tanzania. Cloves have a history of traditional use and are linked with oral and digestive health. Cloves are said to promote healthy digestion and assimilation of dietary nutrients. Cloves may also enhance the production of gastric mucus, which functions as a barrier and helps prevent damage to the stomach lining by digestive acids. Plus, cloves may help protect the liver. Cloves are rich in antioxidants and have been shown to stimulate immune function to inhibit the growth of unfavorable microbes in the gastrointestinal tract.
Elecampane
Elecampane was used by ancient Greeks and Romans for a number of health problems, including digestive and respiratory concerns. Hippocrates advocated it for the kidneys, brain, uterus and stomach. Roman author, naturalist and military commander Pliny said that eating elecampane daily would “help digestion and cause mirth.” When taken as a dietary supplement, elecampane may help soothe gastrointestinal issues and combat foreign organisms. Elecampane also supports a healthy inflammatory response.
Pau D’Arco
According to records, Pau d’arco was used by the Incas, Kallawayas and other native South American groups for its many healing properties. They called it taheebo or lapacho. Pau d'arco's active components, including lapachol and beta-lapachone, stimulate immune function and promote a healthy microbiome by combating unfriendly microbes. Research indicates that pau d’arco seems to help prevent microbes from getting the oxygen and energy they need to thrive. Plus, pau d'arco contains significant amounts of quercetin, a powerful antioxidant.
Capsicum
Capsicum, also commonly known as cayenne or chili powder, is one of the hottest spices. Known for its warming strength, capsicum stimulates digestion and enhances blood flow, thus promoting healthy circulation of the blood. In traditional herbal medicine, capsicum has been used throughout the ages for a variety of health concerns, including intestinal parasites, tissue healing, poor appetite, and sluggish digestion, to name a few. Capsicum also provides antioxidant and immune system benefits. Capsicum is added to many herbal formulas as an effective catalyst to help the body transport and use the companion ingredients.
Proprietary blend of DGLE (Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice root extract), Clove flower extract, Indian Elecampane root extract, Pau d’arco bark extract, and Capsicum fruit in a base of soy lecithin.
Gastro Health features the immune-supporting benefits of pau d’arco bark. Because of overharvesting, these trees are a protected species in Brazil. To preserve this herbal wonder for future generations, we work with experienced, native partners to ensure that the inner bark material is carefully and legally acquired.
It’s also non-GMO project verified.
