How It Works
Digestive enzymes are essential for food digestion. They break down foods into nutrients that can be absorbed and used to build all body systems, including cells, tissues, organs, glands, hormones, etc.
Unfortunately, refined foods and overcooked foods contain minimal, if any, enzymes.
Bromelain
Bromelain is a protein-digesting enzyme mixture derived from the fruit, juice and stem of the pineapple plant. Pineapple has been used for centuries in Central and South America to treat indigestion. Bromelain was first isolated from the pineapple plant in the late 1800s. Bromelain may also help support a healthy respiratory tract.
Alpha-amylase
Alpha-amylase digests starches, converting complex carbohydrates into simple sugars. Amylase also plays a role in blood sugar regulation and can contribute to overall gut health by supporting healthy digestion. Amylase is secreted primarily by the pancreas and salivary glands.
Papain
Papain is an enzyme derived from unripe papaya fruit and leaves. Papain aids in the digestion of protein-rich foods, especially meat, improving digestion and nutrient absorption. Papain may help reduce bloating, gas, and constipation. While papaya's enzymes are especially effective at protein digestion, they also play a role in breaking down other food components, including fats.
