Chromium, the central atom in the “glucose tolerance factor” (GTF), transports quick fuel glucose into cells for energy.
Chromium is an essential trace mineral that has been well-studied and shown to help regulate blood sugar and blood fat levels already within the normal range.*
Our Chromium-GTF is a soulfully-crafted formula featuring botanicals with a rich history of traditional use to support circulatory, immune and nervous system health.
Discovered by Louis-Nicholas Vauquelin in the late 1700s, chromium is prominent in the body, found mainly in the liver, spleen, soft tissue, and bone.
As a trace mineral, chromium is found naturally in many foods, including meats, grains, fruits, vegetables and spices. But the amount of chromium in these foods varies dramatically. Our Chromium-GTF provides enhanced health benefits from horsetail, red clover and yarrow.
Chromium
Chromium is essential for healthy blood sugar levels and is needed to activate cell glucose transporters. Chromium is the central atom in the “glucose tolerance factor” (GTF), a hormone-like compound that works with insulin to transport glucose—the body’s quickest fuel—out of the blood and into the cells. GTF is composed of two niacin molecules and three amino acids, and it requires zinc and manganese. GTF may help to maintain blood glucose levels already in a normal range. With chromium present in the diet, the intestines can produce GTF. A deficiency in dietary chromium can therefore affect blood sugar levels. The liver also needs chromium to manufacture fatty acids, lecithin, cholesterol and lipoproteins. Chromium may even help reduce appetite and curb cravings.
Horsetail
Horsetail is traditionally used for skin, nails, hair and bone health. Recent evidence demonstrates extracts of horsetail support cellular health in bones, and its silica content is believed to contribute to the absorption and use of calcium. Horsetail has also been researched for its antioxidant properties, as well as its effects on blood sugar and urine flow. Horsetail contains a wealth of beneficial nutrients, including vitamins and minerals required by the body for GTF production.
Red Clover
Wild red clover commonly grows in meadows throughout Europe and Asia. The Europeans brought red clover to America centuries ago and it’s now cultivated in North America. Red clover was quickly adopted by native residents who used it for respiratory system complaints, blood purification, skin concerns, and as a support for aging women. Health care practitioners believe that red clover’s diuretic activity “purifies” the blood, improving circulation and helping to cleanse the liver. Red clover may also support healthy blood sugar levels. Red clover is a source of many different nutrients, including calcium, chromium, magnesium, niacin, potassium, vitamin C and more.
Yarrow
Yarrow supports respiratory health and helps soothe the digestive system. Yarrow consumption can be traced to ancient Greece. During the Middle Ages, people flavored hops beverages with yarrow and used it for digestive complaints. Native Americans embraced yarrow for a variety of applications, including minor aches and discomfort and digestive support. Modern research suggests that yarrow nourishes the liver and may influence blood sugar metabolism. Yarrow is a natural source of chromium.
300 mcg of Chromium (amino acid chelate), Calcium (dicalcium phosphate), Phosphorus (dicalcium phosphate), plus a proprietary blend of Horsetail stems and strobili, Red clover flowers and Yarrow aerial parts.
