Bergamot Fruit Extract
While technically an orange, bergamot fruit (Citrus bergamia) more closely resembles a lime or lemon with a bumpy outer peel that ranges from pale green to yellow. If you’ve ever sipped a cup of Earl Grey tea, you’re familiar with bergamot, which is where the brew gets its citrusy aroma. Bergamot fruit is bursting with polyphenols, naturally occurring antioxidants that scavenge free radicals in the body. Bergamot fruit extract helps support healthy cholesterol metabolism. It is thought to work in part by using specific phytochemicals in the fruit to block an enzyme required for the liver’s production of damaging LDL cholesterol. Our bergamot fruit grows along the southern coast of Italy in the town of Bergamo.

Quality
NSP scientists studying the molecular activity of cholesterol realized that oxidized LDL negatively affects the healthy function of the cardiovascular system.
