Flax Seed
Flax seeds provide omega-3 essential fatty acids that promote a healthy circulatory system. In addition, flax seeds naturally contain lignans, which are phytoestrogens that provide powerful health benefits, including boosting the immune system and maintaining hormone balance. The list of flax seed’s traditional health benefits includes respiratory health, intestinal regularity, memory, concentration, and skin health.
Spirulina
Spirulina is a super-food, rich in easily absorbed nutrients. Spirulina contains two-and-a-half times more vitamin B12 than liver, is the best botanical source of complete protein available, and contains several antioxidant-rich carotenoids. Spirulina provides support for the nervous system and healthy brain function. Its rich supply of antioxidants helps protect the brain from free radical damage. Spirulina also contains the amino acid tryptophan, which helps balance the nervous system and plays a key role in the body's production of serotonin and the regulation of stress, mood and appetite. And, spirulina has recently been shown to have beneficial effects on joint health via its antioxidant and immunomodulatory properties.
Fructooligosaccharides
Fructooligosaccharides (short- and long-chain) are a type of fiber that serves as food for the probiotics in the colon to help them thrive within your intestines. Clinical studies have shown that short- and long-chain fructooligosaccharides may improve the growth of friendly microorganisms, enhance mineral absorption, support bowel health and function, and promote digestive function. Research suggests that FOS may also positively influence brain function and heart health.
Chia Seed
Chia seeds are a gluten-free whole grain that contain complete protein, both soluble and insoluble fiber, numerous minerals, and omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Chia seeds actually contain more protein than wheat, oats and quinoa. The dietary fiber in chia seeds promotes gut health and bowel regularity and also helps the body in regulating blood sugar. Chia seeds provide an excellent source of energy and support digestive function and heart health. Plus, chia seeds help maintain normal-range blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
Chlorella
Chlorella is a freshwater green algae noted for its chlorophyll content. Nutritionally comparable to spirulina, chlorella provides a little less protein and only a fraction of the beta-carotene, but more than double the chlorophyll content. Chlorella also supports detoxification by modulating antioxidant enzymes and may help with heavy metal detoxification. Plus, chlorella is a powerful antioxidant, supports immune system function, and acts as a cofactor in the production of cellular energy.
Alfalfa
Alfalfa has been used traditionally as a general tonic to help maintain health and well-being. Alfalfa roots grow deep, providing the plant with a rich source of vital nutrients not always found at the ground’s surface. Alfalfa supports healthy, enriched blood, due in part to its natural iron content. Alfalfa also encourages regular bowel movements, helps detoxify the urinary tract, maintains normal-range blood sugar levels, promotes a healthy immune response, and supports the pituitary gland, which is an essential part of brain health.
Licorice
Licorice root has been a key part of many Chinese herbal formulas for thousands of years because of its numerous health benefits. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has relied on licorice root to provide respiratory, digestive and reproductive system support. Licorice root is also regarded as an adrenal/pituitary tonic that helps to promote vitality and well-being. Plus, licorice root is a popular herbal remedy for gastrointestinal and liver support, gently supporting peristalsis (wave-like muscle contractions that move food through the digestive tract) and overall digestion.
Papaya
Papaya fruit contains enzymes that aid digestion and help relieve stomach discomfort, including belching, gas and nausea. Papaya is the only known food to contain papain, a powerful enzyme that helps break down meat and other proteins. Papain's digestive activity also extends to carbohydrates and fats. Papaya contains other enzymes that help break down starches and milk protein. In addition to smooth digestion and stomach comfort, papaya helps support a healthy appetite.
Artichoke Leaf
Artichokes are often consumed as part of the Mediterranean diet. In fact, the ancient Greeks and Romans ate artichokes (or their cousins, cardoons) for targeted joint support. Artichoke leaves contain phytosterols and soluble fiber that are believed to account for the plant's health-promoting actions. Ongoing research indicates that artichoke leaves have beneficial effects on the liver and enhance bile flow, which in turn, may help maintain cholesterol levels already in the normal range.
Asparagus
Asparagus is a good source of dietary fiber, vitamins A, C and K, folic acid, and potassium. It's also packed with antioxidants such as glutathione, a powerful free-radical scavenger.
Bromelain
Bromelain is a protein-digesting enzyme mixture derived from the fruit, juice and stem of the pineapple plant. Pineapple has been used for centuries in Central and South America to treat indigestion. Bromelain may also promote a healthy respiratory tract. Bromelain works to help reduce the swelling of mucous membranes during times of respiratory stress. Bromelain helps maintain clear nasal passages and also helps support healthy immune system function. Plus, bromelain helps reduce swelling and discomfort and promotes a healthy inflammatory response.
Acerola Fruit
Acerola fruit isn’t really a cherry, it just looks like one. Acerola is a nutritional powerhouse, particularly known for its exceptionally high vitamin C content—acerola offers up to 65 times more vitamin C than oranges. Acerola is also rich in antioxidant nutrients. Native to the tropical regions of the Western Hemisphere, acerola has been used in traditional medicine to support liver and digestive health, as well as coughs and colds.
Horsetail
Horsetail is traditionally used for skin, nails, hair and bone health. Recent evidence demonstrates extracts of horsetail support cellular health in bones, and its silica content is believed to contribute to the absorption and use of calcium. Silica is found in connective tissues throughout the body and is important in the building and normal repair of healthy connective tissue.
Chlorophyll
Sodium copper chlorophyllin (chlorophyll) is a water-soluble salt that has been used orally as an internal deodorant for over 50 years. Chlorophyll helps support the body's blood-cleansing functions and strengthens the immune and intestinal systems. Chlorophyll also acts as a particularly potent natural antioxidant that may help keep cells healthy by protecting them from oxidative damage. Chlorophyll supports the body’s natural detox pathways by inducing expression of detoxification and antioxidant enzymes.
Parsley
Parsley is rich in chlorophyll, a natural deodorizer. It also contains potassium, which helps balance sodium levels, and manganese to help manage calcium levels and nourish the nerves. Centuries of folk use teach us that parsley was employed for urinary and kidney support, detoxification and more.
Pau D'Arco
Pau d'arco contains active components, including lapachol and beta-lapachone, which provide important properties for immune health and a healthy gut microbiome. Research indicates that pau d’arco may help prevent microbes from getting the oxygen and energy they need to thrive. Pau d'arco bark also contains significant amounts of quercetin, a powerful antioxidant known for its effects in supporting the respiratory system and fighting free radicals.
