Pea Protein
Pea protein is a highly digestible source of vegetable protein that provides a good nutritional value. Pea protein is low in both saturated and total fat and is a good source of dietary fiber. In addition to being an excellent source of protein, recent studies show that pea protein supports the urinary system and is effective for maintaining already-normal blood pressure levels.
Guar Gum
Guar gum, made from the seeds of the guar plant, is mainly composed of soluble fiber with a high water-absorbing ability that forms a thick gel when hydrated. Guar gum's gel-forming properties help to increase satiety and slow gastric emptying which may reduce hunger and the desire for eating. Guar gum's gel-forming effect also interferes with the absorption of fat during digestion, binding with emulsified fat from the small intestine. These bound fat molecules are then eliminated. Soluble fibers such as guar gum have also been shown to promote healthy cholesterol and blood sugar levels already within the normal range. Unlike some other types of fiber, guar gum does not affect mineral absorption.
Soluble Vegetable Fiber
Soluble fiber works mainly by helping to produce a softer stool. Soluble fiber increases intestinal bulk to ease the movement of digested food through the gut, promoting normal bowel movement, toxin elimination, and intestinal health. Soluble fiber also chemically prevents or reduces the absorption of certain substances into the bloodstream. Yet, fiber provides other health benefits as well, such as supporting healthy cholesterol and blood sugar levels. Fiber also supports healthy weight management goals by helping to reduce calorie intake, enabling you to eat less while staying satisfied longer.
Flax Seed
Flax seed supports intestinal health thanks to its high fiber content, which softens the stool and acts as a natural laxative to promote elimination. Flax seeds also support a balanced gut microbiome. Flax seeds naturally contain lignans, which are phytoestrogens that provide powerful health benefits, including boosting the immune system, maintaining hormone balance, and supporting breast and prostate health. Plus, flax seeds provide omega-3 essential fatty acids that support cardiovascular health and promote a healthy inflammatory response.
Spirulina
Spirulina is a super-food, rich in easily absorbed nutrients. Spirulina contains two-and-a-half times more vitamin B12 than liver, is the best botanical source of complete protein available, and contains several antioxidant-rich carotenoids. Spirulina provides support for the nervous system and healthy brain function. Its rich supply of antioxidants helps protect the brain from free radical damage. Spirulina also contains the amino acid tryptophan, which helps balance the nervous system and plays a key role in the body's production of serotonin and the regulation of stress, mood and appetite. And, spirulina has recently been shown to have beneficial effects on joint health via its antioxidant and immunomodulatory properties.
Fructooligosaccharides
Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) are added to provide extra intestinal support because of their positive effect on colon health. FOS are a type of prebiotic that serves as food for the probiotics in the colon to help them thrive within your intestines. Studies show that prebiotics may improve the growth of friendly microorganisms, enhance mineral absorption, support bowel health and function, and promote digestive function. Research suggests that FOS may also positively influence brain function and heart health.
Chia Seed
Chia seeds are a gluten-free whole grain that contain complete protein, both soluble and insoluble fiber, numerous minerals, and omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Chia seeds actually contain more protein than wheat, oats and quinoa. The dietary fiber in chia seeds promotes gut health and bowel regularity and also helps the body in regulating blood sugar. Chia seeds provide an excellent source of energy and support digestive function and heart health. Plus, chia seeds help maintain normal-range blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
Chlorella
Chlorella is a freshwater green algae noted for its rich chlorophyll content. Nutritionally comparable to spirulina, chlorella provides a little less protein and only a fraction of the beta-carotene, but more than double the chlorophyll content. Chlorella also supports detoxification by modulating antioxidant enzymes and may help with heavy metal detoxification. Plus, chlorella is a powerful antioxidant, supports immune system function, and acts as a cofactor in the production of cellular energy.
Matcha
Matcha, a form of green tea made from powdered leaves, is a rich source of antioxidants—approximately 10x the antioxidants of other teas. Matcha contains nutrients from the entire tea leaf, resulting in a greater amount of antioxidants than what is typically found in green tea. Studies have documented green tea's benefits for supporting cardiovascular, brain and kidney health, and promoting overall healthy aging. Green tea also supports the body's vascular blood-clotting functions and helps maintain blood pressure and cholesterol levels already within the normal range.
Alfalfa
Alfalfa is rich in nutrients, including cleansing chlorophyll, antioxidants, vitamin C and minerals like calcium, potassium and iron. Alfalfa has been used traditionally as a general tonic to help maintain well-being. Alfalfa supports healthy, enriched blood, due in part to its natural iron content. Alfalfa also supports a healthy immune response. Other benefits of alfalfa include detoxifying the urinary tract, promoting regular bowel movements, maintaining normal-range blood sugar levels, and supporting the pituitary gland—an essential part of brain health.
Kelp
Kelp is a type of brown algae that is naturally rich in trace minerals, including potassium, iodine and zinc. Iodine is an essential trace mineral that supports glandular function, metabolism and energy levels. As a natural iodine source, kelp is particularly important to the thyroid, a gland acting as the body’s energy thermostat.
Bromelain
Bromelain is a protein-digesting enzyme mixture derived from the fruit, juice and stem of the pineapple plant. Pineapple has been used for centuries in Central and South America to treat indigestion. Bromelain may also promote a healthy respiratory tract. Bromelain works to help reduce the swelling of mucous membranes during times of respiratory stress. Bromelain helps maintain clear nasal passages and also helps support healthy immune system function.
Horsetail
Horsetail is traditionally used for skin, nails, hair and bone health. Recent evidence demonstrates extracts of horsetail support cellular health in bones, and its silica content is believed to contribute to the absorption and use of calcium. Silica is found in connective tissues throughout the body and is important in the building and normal repair of healthy connective tissue.
Parsley
Parsley is rich in chlorophyll, a natural deodorizer. It also contains potassium, which helps balance sodium levels, and manganese to help manage calcium levels and nourish the nerves. Centuries of folk use teach us that parsley was employed for urinary and kidney support, detoxification and more.
Black Beans
Black beans are an excellent source of plant-based protein and contain high amounts of soluble and insoluble fiber. They are also naturally low in fat and calories and have no cholesterol. Black beans provide essential nutrients like calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, zinc, folate, and vitamin A. Plus, black beans are a rich source of anthocyanins and quercetin, which are potent antioxidants associated with improving heart health and promoting a healthy inflammatory response.
