Marshmallow Root
Marshmallow root is well-known for its soothing properties, especially for the mucous membranes that line the digestive tract. Marshmallow contains mucilage, a natural substance that becomes gel-like when mixed with water. Marshmallow mucilage provides demulcent (soothing) effects on the protective mucous membranes lining the stomach and intestines, helping to soothe irritation and potentially helping to counteract excess stomach acid. Marshmallow is also considered mildly laxative and is often used for various intestinal conditions. Plus, marshmallow contains pectin fiber that is capable of carrying a host of substances out of the body that often collect or stick to the mucous membranes.
Pepsin
Pepsin is an enzyme that is produced naturally in the body to aid in the digestion of dietary proteins. Pepsin helps pre-digest proteins in the stomach. By aiding in the breakdown of proteins, pepsin can help relieve symptoms of stomach upset, bloating and gas. Although pepsin is a powerful enzyme, it only breaks down proteins in the presence of hydrochloric acid. Pepsin also helps to detoxify the bowel by promoting better digestion which leads to improved intestinal transit time and better elimination of metabolic waste.

Consistent use really works
This really works... when you take it right lol you�re supposed to take it before eating, not after and I was bad about that for a while. It still worked, just not as well as when I did it before consistently. Then I saw a huge change in my consistency in my bowels.

What I learned from a dairy farmer is when milk is heated it destroys the lactose needed to digest milk. There is no such thing as lactose intolerance. We suffer from a lack of lactose. This product does its job. Keep making this available.

Like the herb, not the lactose from milk
I was taking 2-3 twice daily and it seemed helpful. I tend towards a dryer constitution and have had mild to moderate digestive issues for many years including on and off constipation and bloating. In addition to diet I prefer to take herbs and pro/prebiotics that are most gentle to help keep things flowing, as opposed to stronger laxative herbs that create reliance and diminish gut motility long-term. I like marshmallow root and have found tea bags. I thought I’d try this to have more consistently. I also use Nature’s Sunshine powdered slippery elm in bulk. I initially noticed these seemed helpful for keeping things flowing along with 1 NS magnesium tab per day. My issue is that the pepsin in it is from lactose from milk. I don’t know how much it can effect people with dairy allergies in that form, but I think it should be made clear enough on the bottle and website. I personally don’t eat animal foods, so at this point I won’t reorder. Moving forward I’ll be more diligent about checking the nutrition labels. My fault for not catching that it’s not vegan which is my preference.
