Dietary fiber, found primarily in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes, is well-known for its ability to prevent or relieve constipation and promote bowel health.

Guar Gum

Guar gum, made from the seeds of the guar plant, is mainly composed of soluble fiber with a high water-absorbing ability that forms a thick gel when hydrated. Guar gum's gel-forming properties help to increase satiety and slow gastric emptying which may reduce hunger and the desire for eating. Guar gum's gel-forming effect also interferes with the absorption of fat during digestion, binding with emulsified fat from the small intestine. These bound fat molecules are then eliminated. Soluble fibers such as guar gum have also been shown to promote healthy cholesterol and blood sugar levels already within the normal range. Unlike some other types of fiber, guar gum does not affect mineral absorption.

Psyllium

Psyllium hulls support gut health and aid elimination. An excellent source of soluble fiber, psyllium hulls absorb several times their weight in liquid, increasing intestinal bulk to ease the movement of digested food through the gut. Soluble fiber from psyllium hulls also interferes with the absorption of emulsified fat from the small intestine and encourages the elimination of these bound fat molecules. Plus, psyllium hulls can play an important part in helping the body support cholesterol levels that are already within the normal range.

Chickweed

Chickweed is an edible and nutritious plant native to Europe. Chickweed has traditionally been used to support the glandular and urinary systems, and may help to reduce excess "water weight" by enhancing urine flow.
