Sceletium Tortuosum
Sceletium tortuosum has been harvested in South Africa and used by locals for centuries. This remarkable herb supports the nervous system as it facilitates feelings of calm and supports a positive mood. According to research, sceletium helps modulate threat perceptions and “circuitry” in the human brain and may help inhibit a specific enzyme (PDE4) associated with these feelings. A 2001 clinical study showed that sceletium improves mood, energy and focus.
Sceletium tortuosum grows in desert climes of South Africa. For more than 300 years, South African natives have gathered and used this plant for mood support. In 1685, Governor Simon van der Stel wrote that the locals chewing this plant were “of a very cheerful nature.” Zembrin® is a premium version of South African Sceletium tortuosum harvested by the San Bushman people of South Africa.
L-Theanine
L-Theanine is a relaxing, calming amino acid that can boost GABA, serotonin and dopamine levels. These neurotransmitters support mood, sleep, alertness and cognition. Studies show that l-theanine supports sleep quality and a positive mental state. L-Theanine also increases the brain’s alpha wave activity, which seems to reduce occasional feelings of anxiousness and encourage calm alertness and relaxation without drowsiness. Thiamin (Vitamin B1)
