Korean Ginseng
Korean ginseng has been used in Asia for centuries to benefit both mental and physical health. Traditionally ginseng root was consumed to boost energy, improve memory and concentration, promote endurance, and elevate mood. As an adaptogen, panax ginseng helps optimize bodily functions, supports the body’s efforts to achieve balance, and is commonly used to promote energy and vitality. Active constituents in the plant, called ginsenosides, support the glandular system and boost the immune system.
Rhodiola Root
Rhodiola root, well-known in Russia and Europe, is an adaptogen more powerful than ginseng. It has long been revered as a staple in traditional Eastern medicine. Vikings were known to use this herb to support physical strength. The Chinese employed rhodiola for stamina and for lowering stress. And modern-day sherpas take rhodiola when they climb Mt. Everest. Rhodiola root can improve strength, stamina and endurance, and it helps body cells to generate and use energy more effectively. Rhodiola also helps ease stress and may uplift mood and foster positivity. Plus, rhodiola is a rich source of antioxidants.
Eleuthero Root
Eleuthero root is an adaptogenic herb that supports energy and helps maintain balance in the body. Adaptogens help the body "adapt" to environmental stress, including physical and emotional stress. As an adaptogen, eleuthero acts as a tonic at the cellular level and offers beneficial support for the nervous system. Eleuthero is commonly used to support energy, stamina and endurance, and may help with concentration. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), eleuthero is also considered an adrenal tonic.
Gynostemma
Gynostemma has been used for centuries as a natural remedy to help boost energy levels and support the adrenal glands. According to TCM, gynostemma is regarded as a natural rejuvenating and tonifying herb that acts as an adaptogen. Gynostemma has been traditionally associated with youthfulness and longevity, and has been said to help improve hair density, diameter and elasticity. Gynostemma has been extensively researched in China. Gynostemma contains active compounds called gypenosides that have been shown to support cardiovascular and liver health.
Ashwagandha
Ashwagandha is clinically shown to support normal-range cortisol (a stress hormone from the adrenal glands), which improves stress response and reduces feelings of anxiousness. It promotes homeostasis and overall well-being. Clinical studies also show that ashwagandha supports cognition and memory. Ashwagandha hails from India and has a long history of use—more than 2,500 years—in Ayurvedic Medicine. Its nicknames include Indian ginseng, winter cherry and "strength of the stallion", indicating the root’s ability to support stamina and help build the immune system.
Schisandra
Schisandra has been used for centuries for its important adaptogenic benefits. Widely used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), schisandra berries are called the five-flavored fruit because they possesses a remarkable taste that is sour, sweet, bitter, salty and pungent. This renowned Chinese tonic herb is used to balance the 12 meridians (energy channels) and energize the five constitutional types. Schisandra also enables the body to respond more quickly to stress. Plus, schisandra's bitter compounds also support circulation and nervous system function.
Suma
Suma is a powerful adaptogen and tonic herb that bolsters the immune system, provides energy and emotional support, and is used traditionally to promote sexual vitality and prevent aging. Suma also helps protect the body from the consequences of stress, providing antioxidant protection and promoting a healthy inflammatory response. Suma root is referred to as "para todo" in South America, meaning “for everything”. Suma is also called "Brazilian ginseng", and although it is not a true ginseng, it does share many of ginseng’s properties.
Alfalfa
Alfalfa is rich in nutrients, including cleansing chlorophyll, antioxidants, vitamin C and minerals like calcium, potassium and iron. Alfalfa has been used traditionally as a general tonic to help maintain well-being. Alfalfa supports healthy, enriched blood, due in part to its natural iron content. Alfalfa also supports a healthy immune response. Other benefits of alfalfa include detoxifying the urinary tract, promoting regular bowel movements, maintaining normal-range blood sugar levels, and supporting the pituitary gland—an essential part of brain health.
Astragalus Root
Astragalus root is a Chinese herb that shares many properties of ginseng and is known as an energy-booster. A powerful adaptogenic herb, astragalus supports the immune system and promotes blood circulation. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), astragalus also improves the flow of vital internal energy or "chi" and is used to reduce fatigue and tiredness, which are caused by chi deficiency.
Kelp
Kelp is a type of brown algae that is naturally rich in trace minerals, including potassium, iodine and zinc. Iodine is an essential trace mineral that supports glandular function and helps maintain healthy metabolism and energy levels. Kelp is particularly important to the thyroid, a gland acting as the body’s energy thermostat. Kelp's rich supply of nutrients supports healthy digestion and metabolism, immune function, proper fluid balance, and respiratory health, as it promotes general well-being.
Reishi Mushroom
Reishi mushroom is a potent adaptogen that supports the body when under stress, boosts immune defenses, and promotes overall health and vitality. Reishi mushrooms have been used for thousands of years in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and other naturopathic practices around the world. These mushrooms are known to be rich in long-chain polysaccharides, which stimulate the activity of key immune cells, including macrophages, T-cells and natural killer cells. This tricks the body into thinking it is being invaded. And, by promoting balance between the body's immune and stress responses, reishi activates immune cells without overstimulating the immune system. Reishi mushroom also supports lung health and enhances vital energy.
Chromium
Chromium is an essential trace mineral found in small amounts in whole grains and brightly colored fruits and vegetables. Chromium transports quick fuel glucose into cells for energy. Chromium has been well-studied and shown to help regulate blood sugar already within the normal range. Chromium can also help reduce appetite and curb cravings.
