Ayurveda, Sanskrit for “The Science of Life,” is one of the world’s oldest recorded systems of natural health, preserved through the ages on scrolls and manuscripts. In Sanskrit, the word ayurveda consists of the words Äyus, meaning “longevity”, and veda, meaning “related to knowledge” or “science”. This alternative medicine system began in India more than 5,000 years ago.
The Ayurvedic view of physical and mental well-being—a healthy way of living—has experienced a renewed interest as people take a proactive approach to their personal health.
Ayurvedic philosophy is based on balance and energy, and it incorporates lifestyle, diet and herbs.
Our Joint Health authentic formula, developed in concert with Indian Ayurvedic masters with herbs direct from India, is true to the Ayurvedic philosophy of restoring balance to the body.*
Ashwagandha
Ashwagandha has been traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine for symptoms of joint discomfort and swelling. Ashwagandha contains active compounds that promote a healthy inflammatory response and support the health and function of joint cartilage. Studies also show that ashwagandha improves physical endurance and supports a healthy mind-body connection, promoting homeostasis and general well-being.
Guggul
Guggul is one of the oldest and most prominent herbs in traditional Ayurvedic medicine, prized for its powerful detoxifying and rejuvenating qualities. Guggul has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine to treat a variety of health conditions, including liver health and joint complaints. Guggulsterones, a type of plant steroid found in guggul, have been identified as the active constituent responsible for guggul's health effects. Guggulsterones have potent antioxdiant effects and also help promote a healthy inflammatory response.
Indian Frankincense
Indian frankincense, also known as boswellia, has a long history of use in Ayurvedic medicine for the relief of mild aches and discomfort. Indian frankincense has been used for thousands of years for heart support, gut stress and to offset mild joint soreness, stiffness and swelling. Indian frankincense contains powerful boswellic acids that modulate enzymes involved in the inflammatory process. By inhibiting these enzymes, boswellic acids help reduce discomfort and irritation as they support a healthy inflammatory response. A recent study indicates that boswellia extract can support joint health and may help improve cartilage structure and ease knee joint discomfort.
Celery Seed
Celery seed has been used for thousands of years as a natural medicine in the Eastern world. Ancient Ayurvedic medicine employed celery seed to treat water retention, poor digestion, sluggish liver problems, skin disorders, and even joint complaints. Celery seed contains phytochemicals (plant compounds) that promote a healthy inflammatory response and help ease joint discomfort and stiffness. Celery seed may also help reduce uric acid levels in the body. High levels of uric acid can lead to the formation of uric acid crystals in the joints, which can irritate joint tissues and cause swelling and intense discomfort.
Fenugreek
Fenugreek has been used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine to help relieve joint discomfort and stiffness. Fenugreek seeds contain active compounds that help promote a healthy inflammatory response. Fenugreek seeds also contain mucilage, a gel-like compound that provides a soothing effect on irritated tissues. Plus, fenugreek provides antioxidant effects that may help protect joints from oxidative stress which contributes to discomfort and can damage cartilage.
