Are you getting enough iron?
Our Chelated Iron provides 23 mg of iron (ferrous gluconate) per tablet.
This form of iron is gentler on the bowel.
We also blend our iron with Vitamin C and a base of supporting herbs and minerals.
These added nutrients help to promote iron absorption by the body.
Iron
Iron is a mineral used by the body in the production of red blood cells and proteins. Iron supports healthy blood oxygen levels by enabling the blood to transport oxygen from the lungs throughout the body. Without sufficient iron, your tissues, muscles and other body systems do not receive adequate oxygen and thus, they cannot perform properly. Iron is also needed to form collagen and elastin, which support connective tissues. Plus, iron is involved in the production of ATP, the primary molecule that provides energy for the cells. The immune system also requires iron for healthy function.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is needed for iron absorption in the body and plays a vital role in the formation of red blood cells. Vitamin C is the most powerful and readily available antioxidant in the diet and supports overall health and well-being. Vitamin C performs many functions involving the immune system and it also helps in the creation of enzymes, hormones and proteins. Vitamin C is the only dietary ingredient, other than animal tissue, that has been shown to promote iron absorption.
Rose Hips
Rose hips are the portion of the rose that remains after the petals fall off. Native North Americans ate rose hips in the wild as a dietary staple. During World War II, when citrus fruit was scarce, Britons gathered rose hips and made them into syrup to nourish children. Rose hips are a natural source of vitamin C and contain beneficial bioflavonoids and antioxidants. Rose hips also contain vitamins, carotenoids, healthy fatty acids, and minerals such as calcium, zinc and iron.
Yellow Dock
Yellow dock root is a source of plant-based iron and other minerals. The plant's vitamin C content helps the body to better absorb iron. Yellow dock root is frequently used in Western herbal medicine as a blood-building tonic to promote healthy iron levels, build the blood, and support the circulatory system. Yellow dock also supports liver function and nourishes the urinary system.
Thyme
Thyme has been used for many centuries for its flavoring, culinary and medicinal properties. Before the onset of refrigeration, people regularly cooked with thyme to help protect against spoilage. Thyme can also help soothe digestive issues like gas, bloating, and cramping, and may support the gut microbiome. Plus, thyme's protective powers have led to its modern use as a detoxification agent and immune system booster. Thyme has been used for respiratory tract support, specifically for coughs, sore throat, and expelling mucus, as well as for menstrual cramps. Thyme is particularly rich in vitamins A and C, as well as potassium, calcium, iron, manganese, magnesium, selenium and zinc, plus important phytonutrients, antioxidants and fiber. According to research, the active constituent, thymol, provides antioxidant and immune-modulatory benefits
Chickweed
Chickweed is an edible and nutritious plant, containing important nutrients such as vitamin C, flavonoids, carotenoids, calcium, iron and other minerals. Chickweed has been used traditionally to support the glandular and urinary systems. Modern herbalists also recommend chickweed to support healthy iron levels, due to its high iron content.
