The Chinese name for this formula, wen zhong, translates to "enhance earth".
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) philosophy names five distinct energies that permeate the body: Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood.
In order to feel your best, these energies must be in balance.
Traditional Chinese Medicine would consider this an "earth-enhancing" formula.
Your earth element is extremely important as it touches upon your spleen, pancreas and stomach.
The spleen helps filter the blood and provides immune support.
To nourish your earth element, try Spleen Activator TCM Concentrate (-).
According to Eastern philosophy, life permits us to work with what we have on earth here and now—body and mind—in order to reclaim and maintain the innate energy and spirit that reside within us. Energy and spirit must be awakened, nurtured and balanced in order for life to flourish.
Under TCM philosophy, Spleen Activator TCM Concentrate is designed to support digestion, circulation and immune system function.
Asian Ginseng
Asian ginseng root has been used for centuries to benefit both mental and physical health. Traditionally ginseng root was consumed to boost energy, improve memory and concentration, promote endurance and exercise performance, enhance immune system activity, and elevate mood. As an adaptogen, ginseng helps optimize bodily functions, supports the body’s efforts to achieve balance and adapt to stress, and is commonly used to promote energy and vitality. Active constituents in the plant, called ginsenosides, support the glandular system and boost the immune system.
Astragalus
Astragalus root is a Chinese herb that shares many properties of ginseng and is known as an energy-booster. According to TCM, astragalus also improves the flow of vital internal energy or "chi" and is used to reduce fatigue and tiredness, which are caused by chi deficiency. TCM practitioners have used astragalus as a tonic to increase overall vitality in older people or those who feel weak or fatigued. A powerful adaptogenic herb, astragalus also supports the immune system, promotes blood circulation, and helps clear retained water from the body.
Atractylodes
Atractylodes has been used traditionally to maintain normal nervous system function during mental stress and to support the upper digestive system during tension and distress. Atractylodes is believed to strengthen the spleen and may help relieve intestinal gas and occasional bouts of nausea.
Hoelen
Hoelen sclerotium has been used for centuries in TCM to “drain dampness” and increase urinary flow. Hoelen also helps to relieve congestion and feelings of heaviness in the body. Hoelen is included in formulas to strengthen spleen function and relieve nausea and vomiting due to congested stomach fluids.
Licorice
Licorice has been a key part of many Chinese herbal formulas for thousands of years. Most TCM combinations use licorice to balance the other herbs and to promote vitality and well-being. Licorice root is a popular herbal remedy for gastrointestinal and liver support, gently supporting peristalsis (wave-like muscle contractions that move food through the digestive tract) and overall digestion. Licorice root may also help increase mucus production in the stomach, which can soothe the stomach lining and promote healing.
Dong Quai
Dong quai root has been used in TCM for thousands of years to invigorate blood circulation and enrich the blood. TCM practitioners also use dong quai to restore the body's vital energy known as "qi" or "chi", and to return the body to a state of natural balance. Dong quai also helps to calm the nerves, relax cramping muscles and spasms, and soothe the intestines.
Ginger
Ginger has been used as both food and medicine in Asia for thousands of years. Traditionally, ginger has helped with a laundry list of complaints, including cold, fever, joint discomfort, aches, cramps, nervous system support, oral health, circulatory health, plus indigestion, gas, nausea and vomiting. Researchers have found that ginger may help settle the stomach during times of occasional nausea, motion sickness and morning sickness.
Tangerine Rind
In TCM, the rind or peel of tangerine fruit is a warming herb used to balance energy flow through the body. Tangerine rind is also employed as a bitter tonic that stimulates the liver to increase bile production and help relieve intestinal gas and bloating. It is also used to stop hiccups and belching, soothe stomach complaints, and combat loss of appetite.
