Hoelen
Hoelen sclerotium has been used for centuries in TCM to “drain dampness” and increase urinary flow. Hoelen is also used to correct urinary imbalances and help relieve congestion and feelings of heaviness in the body. Hoelen is valued as a tonic for the bladder and kidneys, as it helps to balance electrolytes. Hoelen also promotes immune system function.
White Mulberry
White mulberry, native to northern China, has been used in TCM for over 4,000 years. The root bark is used in TCM to promote urine flow to eliminate excess moisture and help reduce congestion and swelling. White mulberry has significant antioxidant properties and may help the body to maintain normal-range blood pressure levels.
Astragalus
Astragalus is native to China, Mongolia and North Korea and has been used in TCM for more than 2,000 years. It is still considered one of the 50 fundamental herbs of TCM. Astragalus was often used as a tonic to increase overall vitality in older people or those who feel weak or fatigued. Modern Chinese practitioners tout the use of astragalus in supporting the immune system, promoting healthy blood circulation, and clearing retained water from the body. Astragalus also improves the flow of internal energy or "chi".
Chinese Peony
Eastern gardens have featured peonies for over 4,000 years, and they can now be found throughout Asia, North America and Europe. Chinese peony has been used in TCM to maintain healthy nervous system function during mental stress and to support the upper digestive system during tension and distress. Chinese peony also has immunomodulatory effects and promotes healthy blood circulation. Plus, it helps relax muscle cramping and spasms, relieves aches and discomfort, and promotes a healthy inflammatory response by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory molecules in the body.
Ginger
Ginger root (or rhizome) has been used as both food and medicine in Asia for thousands of years. Traditionally, ginger has helped with a laundry list of complaints, including cold, fever, aches, cramps, nervous system support, oral health, circulatory health, joint discomfort, plus various digestive disturbances. Ginger contains the active compound known as gingerols, which promotes a healthy inflammatory response and may help ease joint discomfort, swelling and stiffness.
